Session Grading
Beginner
  - No understanding of - Rules, Scoring system, Racket grip, Serving OR Basic positioning.
 
Minimum for Wednesdays (Grade C)
  - Technique - Player must show that they are capable of hitting the shuttle consistently, back and forth.
  They must have some racket grip knowledge. 
  - Tactics - They must understand the rules and scoring system.
 
  - Serve - They must be able to achieve a reasonable serve.
 
  - Movement - They must be able to move around the court to hit the shuttle.
 
Desirable for Wednesdays (Grade C+)
  - Technique - The player must be able to position the shuttle more, including smashing, playing drop shots and blocking to the net.
  Overhead strokes must be good enough to produce power and length into their game (baseline to baseline). 
  - Tactics - The player must demonstrate court awareness and know where to position themselves (front/back, sides).
 
  - Serve - The players serve must start to get tighter and be able to flick serve with some deception.
 
  - Movement – They must be able to cover the court and show correct footwork.
 
Desirable for Matches (Grade B)
  - Technique - They must have the correct grip and change grips for forehand and backhand strokes.
  They must show a high level of accuracy and power even under pressure.
  They must use some deception.
  They must go round the head to play a shot. 
  - Tactics - They must use tactical play at all times, adjusted for different opponents.
 
  - Serve - The players serve must be tight and they have to be able to return serves well.
  They must have a consistent deceptive flick. They must look for the third shot after serving.  
  - Movement – Footwork to be correct most of time, while under pressure and maintained during a long game.
  They must play sides when defending. In mixed doubles, the lady should cover the cross court drop or smash. 
Better Players (Grade B+)
  - Technique - They must use slicing and deception under pressure.
  They must smash accurately three or four times in a row, powerful enough to cause opponents problems.
  They must use backhand drops and drives to get out of trouble. 
  - Tactics - They must play for their partner, know where they are during rally. Try to intercept shots when possible.
  They must attack the net with awareness of weak shots from partner or opposition.
  They must be equally strong at front and back of court. 
  - Serve - Able to vary where to serve to get different types of return. Able to attack serve or play soft.
 
Beyond Our Level (Grade A)
  - Technique - They must use deception in their game to make a difference. Good anticipation.
 
  - Tactics - They must have good understanding and be able to perform under serious pressure from opponents. Includes front and back attacking, sides defending and rotation.
  They must play shots to help their partner and be aware of where they are.
